A New Round of Challenges for Assisted Living and other Health Care Facilities
Our interactions with those who work in the medical field are based on a sacred trust that goes all the way back to Hippocrates. We literally place our lives in their hands — from first responders and nurses to surgeons and other specialists. Theirs is a noble profession and all of us will end up needing them one day. However, the immediate future for the US health care industry has been cast into doubt due to political and funding challenges and changes to typical care protocols.
Impending Cuts to the Social Safety Net
With recent discussions in Congress about the upcoming changes to the US health care delivery system, residents of assisted and long-term care facilities, along with their families, are wondering what is looming over the horizon if and when certain bills become law. At the time of this writing, the American Health Care Act of 2017 (H.R. 1628) is currently being debated and discussed in the Senate. And, if passed, it will soon go to the president’s desk for final signing.
The proposed cuts to Medicaid and other safety-net programs will undoubtedly have a profound effect on the lives of those who depend on them. The primary source of funding for the 1.4 million people currently living in nursing homes is the state Medicaid program. And, though its counterpart program, Medicare, provides for a gamut of medical expenses, it does not cover many living expenses for long-term care facilities.
Our Commitment to the US Health Care and Medical Community
Regardless of political discussion, operators of long-term assisted care facilities will need to look at their expenses and make adjustments for the times ahead. Regroup stands by to support the assisted living facilities we cater to by providing a virtually unlimited service platform at a competitive price point. And, we will continue to provide the same dependable mass communication platform those facilities have come to rely on.
Coordinating the medical and residential staff on a day-to-day basis through well-calibrated mass communication is Regroup’s contribution in our partnership with the care facilities we serve. We believe that reliable mass communications cannot be understated or missing from the overall equation, and we have devoted considerable effort to tailoring the services we provide to health care facilities to enable them to be as effective as possible.
A good example of this is our work for Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, Wyoming. This nonprofit facility has the distinction of being the very first facility in Southwest Wyoming with a cancer treatment center. The security and emergency management department of this hospital have found Regroup’s ease-of-use to be a critical component for keeping their staff in constant communication.
Our tools and resources enable clinics, hospitals and long-term care facilities to run smoothly with leading-edge mass communication technology for compliant clinical communication and collaboration. And, Regroup remains committed to providing these resources to our partners in health care, their staff and their patients.
