How to Participate in National Night Out 2022
National Night Out is an annual event that takes place in over 1,500 communities across the United States. It’s a night when residents and visitors come together to get to know their neighbors, local businesses and law enforcement. These communities host programs, events and activities to bring neighbors together and to show that we stand as one against crime, drugs, gangs and violence. Anyone who lives in or is a visitor to the area can join in on this fun-filled evening. There are several ways you can participate in National Night Out 2022 if you live in or near one of these communities. Read on to learn more about how you can get involved with this great event!
What is National Night Out?
National Night Out 2022 takes place on August 2nd. The goal of this event is to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Through events, activities and other initiatives, participants seek to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while fostering a true sense of community. National Night Out provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Communities in all fifty states participate in this event as well as on military bases worldwide. While most communities celebrate National Night Out on the first Tuesday in August, Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October. Some of the activities that take place during NNO include block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much more.
How to Participate in National Night Out
There are many ways you can participate in National Night Out. We’ve put together Five Ways to help you get inspired and ensure a night that your entire community will enjoy.
1. Organize an Event or Activity
If you would like to participate in National Night Out and host an event or activity for your community, you can reach out to your local law enforcement and city government.
2. Become a Member of the Event Committee
If you want to get more involved with National Night Out, you can become part of the event committee. The committee is the governing body that plans and organizes National Night Out in your area. They will be the ones hosting the event and planning the various activities and events throughout the evening.
3. Become an NNO Partner
If you have a business and would like to partner with National Night Out, you can reach out to your local law enforcement or city government and see if they have a partner program set up. If they do, you can sign up to partner with them and receive business benefits.
4. Get Hands On
If you have a food truck, restaurant or catering business and would like to partner with National Night Out, you can reach out to volunteer and help out and see if you’d receive any kind of benefits as well.
5. Celebrate the Event and Beyond
Be present at the event and actively participate in the different activities. Contribute with your ideas and feedback and become an active participant during the night and beyond.
